DaftIllustration - first half

As a personal project I decided to try and do an illustration for each track off the Daft Punk Album - Human After All. After the recent rejection from Boxfresh I could do with some positive comments.....But maybe their designs are to generic to explode some art like mine on to the scene....or not.

Anyway here are the first few of the DaftIllustrationS! I hope you like them they are pretty different from what I normally do but a worthy experiment none the less....

Lust/Lust.....SevinSins competition

"My mouth went across: a spider, trying to hide.
In you, behind you, timid, driven by thirst"
- 'I have gone marking' - Pablo Neruda

A great question has been peddling around the depths of mind creating this image; what is the colour of lust? The bottom was my first attempt....Let me know what you think? And what colours would you use to represent lust?? Is it a different content from lust if included in love?

Illustration Friday - Renewal

I had a few ideas of what renewal meant to me, including love, meditation, healing and growth....see if you can spot the symbols for each ;)

This is my first submission to Illustration friday.com, I'm not too sure about the colours but they are meant to symbolise autumn and spring....hmmmm. - Renewal (change is hard). -

The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

"That's what alchemists do. They show that, when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too."

Just finished this book, was a good read. A different writing style to the usual sort of thing I read but has some great snippets in it and have a feeling I will dive back into this book into the future not for the story but theories and thought process advocated inside....Well anyway here is the illustration inspired by the Spanish Shepard looking for his treasure in life....(It's at the pyramids ;)
and a quote from the book....

Kafka on the Shore - Illustration

Just finished a fantasticaly bizarre book called 'Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami' if you haven't read it and you like things to be just a little bit crazy and different then I recommend it...His style of writing is beautiful and addictive even tho I have a feeling some of the translation is slightly over Americanised or if you prefer Americanized!

There are two stories followed in the book slowly interweaving through the book, one of a 15 year-old boy who runs away from home who calls him-self Kafka Tamura, and another a story of old man Nakata who can talk to cats and make the sky rain fish...yes I know strange but if you can just suspend your disbelief and install some belief in the fantastical it really is a brilliant journey that the Author takes you on.....I can't wait to read more of his books and no doubt work on some more illustrations inspired by them!! So keep your eyes peeled!!

At the moment I'm reading Paulho Coelho's The Alchemist so it might be a little while before another Murakami inspired piece pops up....

ArtSpace Galleries Exhibition Mayfair.

Well the short life in a Mayfair gallery has come to an abrupt end I will be collecting my paintings this afternoon. It was a lovely little exhibition just a pity it didn't get as much promotion as we would have hoped but at such short notice its a great experience to have had. Myself and another very talented illustrator named Joe Beale (check out his blog!!) enjoyed the private view and hope to move on to the next gallery maybe in Paris or New York....but probably Shoreditch!

Cracking New York ;)

hatfactorypublishing.blogspot.com/

A beautiful small book created to promote artists in New York, featuring myself and some other amazing artists!!
NEW BOOK and the unfolding darkness

So I think we put together a sweet little book. All the artists that contributed where really great and quick. Over all I think the book took about a month to really get the thing off the ground. It was a little confusing having both Isaac and I dealing with artists from like three different emails. We are definitely going to do another book. Hopefully we can make enough with this one to pay for this one and the next one. I don't doubt that will happen. I mean I loved seeing it all come together. Isaac did a lot of the leg work as far as laying images out and when he brought over the mock up I was surprised at how well everything went together. Screening the cover and envelops was really cool too. That was the step where the project came together for me. So yeah, I am really proud of this book. "
